Alissa’s post –
I’ve been so hesitant to post because it feels like we take one step forward (Monday’s news) and then take 3 steps backwards. But family & friends are encouraging me to continue to post even in those hard moments so you all know how to pray specifically.
It’s been a hard week after Monday. So much vomiting and nausea that they placed a tube in his throat to draw up the bile filling his stomach. His stomach isn’t emptying as it should and that’s to be expected with his type of cancer.
He got his tube out Thursday night and actually tolerated some bone broth and homemade gelatin last night and is going to have some eggs for breakfast—he’s eating as I write this!
We will be here through Christmas so that he can get one more treatment since our insurance won’t kick in till Jan 1st. Being here on Christmas is heartbreaking in itself but we are choosing to focus on the good things! He’s getting stronger each day, he’s been able to eat a few small things, and he’s off pain meds.
Ways to pray in the next few days:
- Continued strength for his next treatment on the 25-26th.
- That this second round is easier on his body and numbers continue to decrease
- That we can get into MD Anderson as soon as we are released
- The right alternative treatments for Alex’s body be revealed
- Not sure if y’all saw one of my posts, but my Home Grove Facebook page was hacked and I have no control over it. I’m trying to resolve it with FB but please pray blessing over that and that I can regain control
Thank you so much for your continued support and prayer!! We feel your arms wrapped around us!!- Alissa
