Update #1

by | Dec 11, 2024 | 0 comments

Alex and Alissa have been so thankful for every prayer, call, text, meal, visit, and encouragement they have received. They wanted to start this off by saying thank you to everyone who is coming around them during this time.

I wanted to update anyone unaware of what the Clarks have been walking through. Several months ago, Alex started experiencing some indigestion and heartburn that turned into stomach pain. He saw his primary care provider, and they concluded he had an ulcer and began treating him. Some things seemed to help; some things did not, and eventually, the pain became so intense that on Saturday, December 7th, Alex and Alissa went to the ER.

The ER doctors performed a few tests and scans that showed a mass in his liver and in his stomach, and he was admitted to the hospital to get more testing done.

On Saturday night, they were admitted to the hospital and learned that this was most likely cancer. Alex had a few more tests and a biopsy to determine the type of cancer and where it began.

This morning, Alex and Alissa are still waiting for the biopsy results and hope to receive those results by the end of the week. The Oncologist has told them that she suspects it is a terminal stage four stomach cancer. They plan to go to MD Anderson for a second opinion when the biopsy results are in.

The average person would have crumbled at the news, but Alex has never been average. The rallying cry of “This will only serve to glorify” and “I am going to fight this thing with everything I’ve got!” rang out, declaring that he was ready for the fight. This fight, however, cannot be alone, which is why they are so thankful for all the support you have shown!

Here are some specific ways you can pray

– Peace and strength for the entire Clark family (Alex, Alissa, Aspen (11), Linden (9,) Shae (7), and Rowan (4)

– Supernatural healing of Alex’s body

– For insurance to cover his treatment

– That Alex would regain strength after weeks of not eating very much because of the stomach pain.

If you would like to bless them with a financial gift, the link for Alex’s GoFundme page is at the bottom of this page.

Thank you again for your prayers and support.

In Christ alone,

Morgan Matthews (Alissa’s Sister)
