An update from Alissa

Hello! I wanted to hop on here and give y’all an update and more ways you can pray!

We’ve made a huge decision this week and wanted to share with you! We have decided to walk away from chemo and pursue alternative treatments. If you’ve googled anything at all, you’ve probably found that the survival rates of Alex’s type of cancer are incredibly low with conventional medicine. Our oncologists are telling us they can’t do anything but try to extend his life. We want more than that so we are going to pursue options that will support his body in tandem with also killing cancer cells—there are so many other options out there once you start looking! With chemo just making him so sick and causing even more weight loss, he has decided to try to heal from the inside out with diet, detox, and other treatments.

I won’t get into all the details of the treatments we will be doing, but you are more than welcome to reach out to us, and we will send you what we are doing. We have SO much hope and believe that God is truly leading the way on Alex’s healing journey.

These past few days have been so joyful, and I feel like I have my Alex back!! He’s gaining strength and can be out of our room to spend time with his family, and he’s even made himself a few meals—he even drove today!

But most of all, his spirit and faith are so incredible it brings me to tears. He is thankful for this affliction because it is making him rely so deeply on the Lord like he has never done before. He’s at such peace and experiencing joy amidst these hard circumstances. He even joked the other day about those “poor healthy people.” 😊

While this may be scary to some, we have lived our life differently than mainstream for a long time, and this decision is really more in line with how we’ve chosen to live the past several years. Our oncologist is amazing and will still monitor Alex’s progress; we are so thankful to her.

He’s in no pain, which is a miracle in itself. We are thankful for the first two rounds of chemo to have stopped the spread and helped his tumor markers to come down. It has jump-started our new health journey, and we are so excited to be off and running!

How you can pray:

– Alex needs to continue to eat, gain strength, and put on more weight (he’s lost a total of 60 lbs since last year). His stomach is still off most of the time, but he is able to eat.
– For his tumor marker numbers to continue to go down—and for complete healing!
– For his spirit to remain strong and continued wisdom
– I still haven’t gotten my business Facebook page back from the hacker, so please pray that it is resolved soon!

Love, Alissa
